The King of Pigs
With his first feature film, Yeon Sang-ho made it clear that one of South Korea's greatest animation talents had arrived. Childhood friends Kyung-Min and Chul-Yi meet to talk about their days in middle school. It's been 15 years since they last saw each other - and the reunion soon brings back a slew of dark memories, that still haunt them as adults. ' The King of Pigs' is a bleak and brutal meditation on the the scars and secrets we all carry around. And one hell of a strong debut.
NOTICE:
Before the film we’ll show Yeon Sang-ho’s short ‘The Window’ from 2012, which is based on the director’s own military experiences. Here, a platoon of soldiers get a new recruit, who’s not quite up to the task. Something the platoon leader decides to fix. For better or worse. Mostly worse.
